THE SPECIAL INGREDIENT FOR SUCCESSFUL VIDEO PRODUCTIONS
When I think of a film or video production at Crystal Pix, there are several apparent ingredients for success that come to mind, in no particular order:
- The Right Equipment that Fits the Job ... maybe it's Canon 5D Mark IVs for a more doc-style shoot or the RED EPIC-W shooting 8K for a high end commercial. Of course, the right lighting and all the Ronins, Steadicams and sliders, maybe some drone work as well.
- The Right Crew ... this is a big one for me and definitely experience is a plus. But more than that, I love working with passionate, great work ethic people ... who have a great attitude, care about their job, and respect everyone on the crew, the talent and the client. I would take those qualities first before the know-how.
- The Right Coordination ... nothing defeats a production more than a lack of organization and communication when it comes to working out the details ... has the location been properly secured? Is the schedule realistic? Is everyone aware of the roles they play on the production and have the appropriate expectations been set?
But the most special ingredient for a successful production I think is FUN ... having the right attitude, not taking yourself too seriously and enjoying the journey of the production, as well as the people who are that journey with you. And I have to say that for the past 23 years of business, we at Crystal Pix pride ourselves in striving to have the right atmosphere on our sets, where people can be creative to do the work they were meant to do, with respect, and with a sense that we are all on the same, fun-loving team.
